Youth Engagement Workshop
18 May 2025 - Ankara
A Youth Engagement Workshop was held in Ankara with the participation of medicine and communication students from Ankara and earthquake-affected provinces. Focusing on mental wellbeing and suicide prevention, the workshop aimed to raise awareness and foster active involvement among youth in mental health issues.
Participants worked in interdisciplinary groups to analyse case studies and propose ideas to strengthen the wellbeing of young people. The programme also included an introduction to Photovoice, a participatory method that allows communities to express their experiences through photography. Sessions on ethical principles in visual storytelling and responsible communication were also delivered.
The workshop was organized under the “Social Inclusion of Persons with Mental Disabilities Project,” jointly funded by the European Union and the World Health Organization (WHO), in collaboration with the Ministry of Family and Social Services and the Ministry of Health. The event aimed to enhance youth capacity in mental health advocacy and inclusive, community-based approaches.
